Description
Hylocereus stenopterus
Hylocereus stenopterus Dragon Fruit is a variety native to Central America. Its purple flower makes it unique compared to other dragon fruit species. It also has the sweetest fruit of all the Dragon Fruit we grow. It is most known as the parent plant of Connie Mayer, Bruni, and Kathie Van Arm. More information is coming soon!
Growth
This variety grows weak and branches irregularly. The green, sometimes reddish, triangular shoots are deeply concave on the side surfaces. The ribs are almost straight to slightly worn out. From the weakly raised areola arise 1 to 3 thick, conical, light brown thorns. More information is coming soon!
Flowers
The salver-shaped flowers appear along the shoots and are 8 to 10 inches long. The flower tube is slightly bent upwards and only 2 inches long. The almost linear, pointed bracts are more or less purple and have white edges. The stamens are short and excellent. The white stylus protrudes very far. More information is coming soon!
Fruit
The spherical fruits can weigh up to one-quarter of a pound with a sweet coconut flavor. Check out our Pinterest page for other great uses of this variety. More information is coming soon!
