Paisley Dragon Fruit variety Dragon Fruit is a hybrid variety that comes from Hylocereus guatemalensis and Hylocereus undatus. This variety produces half pound to one pound fruit with an average brix rating of 16. The external appearance of the fruit is red skin with green fins. The inner flesh is deep purple with slightly lighter purple tones near the peel. Several fruits were tested and the brix range was from 15 to 19 with 15 coming from the smallest fruit while 19 came from the largest fruit. The flowers are plentiful and fragrant however they are self-sterile, meaning they need a pollinator to set fruit. Paisley is a very vigorous grower that can have segments up to 5 feet in length. Stems resemble typical Hylocereus guatemalensis growth with a heart-shaped rib and small spines. This hybrid variety was collected from a tropical grower in California.
