Thai Dragon is a Dragon Fruit variety that comes for the genus Hylocereus and the species undatus. It’s is a fantastic edible Dragon Fruit plant obtained from Thailand, and this is where it gets its name from. It is a fast and self-fertile easy grower. This is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to start growing Dragon Fruit for the first time. This Dragon Fruit variety was acquired from a tropical nursery in Louisiana.
Large white flowers of Thia Dragon are typical of the undatus species. They are abundant 3 to 4 flower cycles throughout the calendar year. On average, flower buds to flower opening is 21 days. These flowers are elaborate and bloom only at night.
When pollination occurs, round pink-colored edible fruits will appear — fruits weight up to 1.5 pounds with an average brix of 14. The oval fruit is covered with distinguished green scales and can get up to 5 inches long. Enclosed in the thin skin is a large mass of sweet white flavored flesh and numerous small black seeds. The fruit can be eaten out-of-hand, but even better chilled.
