Lake Atitlan Red
Lake Atitlan Red Dragon Fruit variety comes from the genus Hylocereus and the species polyrhizus. This variety is named after a lake in Guatemala that lies high among Central American volcanoes. It is a medium to large-sized fruit typically weighing .75 to 1.5 pounds. The skin is pinkish – red with green fins. The flesh is red and very flavorful having both a sweet and tangy taste. This fruit scores a brix rating between 16.5 to 18. After a few years of testing Spicy Exotics has confirmed this variety to be Self Sterile.
Some internet research shows this variety having white flesh with pink skin. This variety holds the same name but has red flesh giving it the Lake Atitlan Red name. This variety was acquired from a tropical nursery in California.

Purchased Lake Atitlan Red a few years ago. Seems to be a fast grower with nice size sweat fruit. Cuttings are easy to root to start another plant.
