Description
Thomson G2
Thomson G2 Dragon Fruit or Thomson Guatemalan – 2 Dragon Fruit variety comes from the genus Hylocereus and the species guatemalensis. This variety is a clone that was originally collected by Paul Thomson. This plant is self-sterile so it needs a pollinator. It produces a sweet and delicious large 1.0 to 2.0-pound fruit. Stems are strong but will sunburn, though rarely sustain permanent damage. Like many of the Guatemalan varieties blooms early and produces plenty of fruit well into the late season. While its lack of sun tolerance and self-sterile properties are negative, the large, sweet, attractive fruit make it worth the trouble. To back this up, the fruit has an average brix rating of 18 with some of the larger fruit having a 20 rating. This variety was acquired from a grower in California.

2 cuttings healthy/long. 2 years for fruit… actually ended up being my absolute favorite out of the 30 varieties I have. Did not produce as much as I would have hoped but WOW. Can’t describe the flavors that came out of my G2 but now I have multiple cuttings planted for more fruit. not self fertile but totally worth it, good size fruit, it actually handled socal heat better than I thought with minor sunburn. Keeper!!!
